Daar le soveel wonders opgesluit in ouma se linnekis.

South Africa is a country lucky enough to be flooded with all types of craftsmanship. Arts and crafts have been used as a means of income for many years and often trends would sprout up and craftsman would incorporate these trends into their work. The only problem with that is the fact that you repeatedly have a lot of the same type of thing for a certain period of time.

It is because of this reason that the following designer and craftsman caught my eye. His furniture pieces are individually designed and sculpted by him. The designs are unique and original, not like those you've seen before. Frankie’s inspiration is mainly the Giraffe. His designs ‘Mother and baby’ and ‘Lovers’ are tables sculpted using the forms of Giraffes. His furniture is made of Olive wood as well as varnished and painted. It is people like Frankie that have the ability to pioneer trends because they start creating and designing something that is new and captivating. It is easy to copy others but far more difficult to be unique and different yet Frankie possesses this quality. Frankie, like many craftsmen, does not have his own studio or shop yet he continues to embrace his talent by creating these furniture pieces. He too, does not allow his circumstances to overcome his talent and instead makes the best out of his situation.

If you should wish to contact Frankie about his work for any reason you can reach him at : 071 932 9820

South Africa isn’t only rich in culture but also in talent. In a small town called Benoni there sits a young man ,by the name of Ronald, next to a display of paintings in front of a little cafe. Ronald is an amazing portrait painter that captures scenes of the world around him. He uses an Acrylic medium in his paintings as well as a very distinct and realistic technique in his creations. He doesn’t have the resources that will allow him to have his own studio but this doesn’t stop him from using the talent he has to create something beautiful. He is an example of someone who has embraced the idea of ‘Blom waar jy geplant is’ for he has flourished as an individual despite his circumstances. Here are only a few examples of Ronald's work. If you wish to  purchase one of Ronald's creations or contact Ronald about a portrait that you would like him to paint for you, you can reach him on his cellphone at : O62 260 2737
